Sarah grew up in the Bay Area outdoors with her family, then came to Colorado to study Interior Architecture and Design at Colorado State University, with a minor in Global Environmental Sustainability. She brings a hands-on, materially-driven approach to every project, and she will absolutely talk you out of a finish that won’t hold up to mountain boots.

Alayna studies Interior Design at North Dakota State University with a minor in Strategic Communications, and she joined F9 to bring a fresh, curious eye to the team. She is drawn to how people actually live in a space, the morning light, the spot where the kids drop their backpacks, and translates that into rooms that hold up to daily life.

Can F9 provide interior design without architecture services?
Yes. Our interior design team takes standalone projects for clients who don’t need architectural work including full-home refreshes, kitchen and bath redesigns, and finish-and-furniture packages. You don’t have to build a new home to work with us.
When should interior design start during a custom home or remodel?
As early as schematic design. Bringing interiors in alongside architecture means cabinetry, lighting, and millwork are designed together with the structure, not retrofitted later. That timing saves real money and avoids the change orders that come with late-stage decisions.
Why add interior design to an architecture project?
Coordinated interior design improves continuity between exterior and interior, locks in material and finish budgets earlier, reduces decision fatigue during construction, and produces a home that feels complete the day the keys turn. It’s also the highest-leverage move you can make for budget certainty.
Do you help with finishes, fixtures, and lighting?
Yes, all of it. Paint, tile, flooring, countertops, cabinetry, hardware, plumbing fixtures, light fixtures, built-ins, furniture direction, art and accessory styling. The package is scoped to your project.
Do you work on remodels, ADUs, additions, and custom homes?
All of the above. F9 designs interiors for ground-up custom homes, additions and remodels, accessory dwelling units, mountain homes, multifamily, and select commercial projects.
What areas of Colorado do you serve?
Boulder, Longmont, Denver, Boulder County, Aspen, and the surrounding Front Range and mountain communities. We have offices in Longmont and Denver and travel into the mountains regularly.
How does interior design help control budget?
Selecting finishes and fixtures early rather than in a panic mid-construction, locks in pricing, reduces last-minute substitutions, and gives builders better information to bid against. Surprises happen on uncoordinated projects, not coordinated ones.
