F9 Productions was commissioned in early 2024 to design a modern interpretation of the traditional Colorado A-frame cabin, set against the stunning backdrop of South Park’s mountains. The owners’ vision for the site included maximizing the breathtaking views, leading to the orientation of large glass walls that capture the surrounding natural beauty. The result is a striking “black” version of the classic A-frame, with future plans for a contrasting “white” model.

Client Drivers & Unique Features:

  • Modern Take on Traditional A-Frame: The design reimagines the traditional A-frame cabin with a modern twist, featuring black corrugated metal siding and a nearly all-white interior.

  • Maximized Views: Large glass walls are strategically oriented to provide expansive views of the surrounding mountains, enhancing the connection to nature.

  • Future Contrasting Model: Plans include a future “white” model with opposite color schemes, adding versatility and interest to the design concept.

Architectural Features:

  • Black Corrugated Metal Siding: The exterior is wrapped in black corrugated metal siding, creating a sleek and modern appearance that contrasts with the traditional A-frame shape.

  • Tall Great Room: The 23-foot-tall great room creates a grand and open living space, central to the first floor.

  • Open Tread Staircase: Centrally located adjacent to the entry, the open tread staircase allows for lofting views down to the living and dining areas below.

Interior Design:

  • Light and Airy Interior: The nearly all-white interior contrasts with the black exterior, creating a bright and inviting living space.

  • First Floor Layout: Includes a centrally located stair, great room, kitchen with views of a rock outcropping, and a spare bedroom with a private deck.

  • Second Floor Layout: Features lofting views down to the living areas, an unobstructed view of the mountains, and a master suite with a private covered deck facing east.
