In 2015, F9 Productions self-commissioned a one-of-a-kind contemporary home for one of its co-owners and his family. This modern home was designed to seamlessly blend the needs of two families while maintaining personal space and private sanctuaries. Incorporating feng shui principles and sustainability throughout the design process, this home is a showcase of innovative architecture and environmental responsibility.
Client Drivers & Unique Features:
- Family Integration with Privacy: The design accommodates the joining of two families into one home. The master bedroom is located in the western part of the second floor, separated by closets and a laundry room. Four children’s bedrooms are situated in the eastern part, each separated by a Jack and Jill bathroom with private showering areas.
- Feng Shui Principles: The design follows feng shui principles, ensuring positive living energy. The large glass foyer with a water pool faces east to meet the rising sun, and a spatial portal extends from the foyer to the large glass sliding doors on the west, allowing energy to flow through to the Colorado mountain peaks beyond.
Sustainability:
- Native Landscaping: The home is surrounded by native plants and a xeriscaped yard, reducing water usage and carbon emissions from mowing.
- Solar Panel Array: A solar panel array on the roof makes the home nearly net-zero in energy consumption.
- Energy Efficiency: The home features LED lighting throughout, energy-efficient glazing, and solar tubes in the roof, maximizing natural light and minimizing energy use.
Architectural Features:
- Modern Design: The home combines contemporary forms with practical functionality, creating a visually striking and comfortable living space.
